PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma , which is a product that comes from your own blood. PRP treatments are minimally-invasive, non-surgical procedures that treat aging skin, dark under-eye circles, hair loss and alopecia. When injected or applied topically, depending on the treatment you are receiving, the PRP will work to speed up recovery and greatly improve the quality of your skin. These cells boost growth and reduce inflammation. Human blood is made up of many things, such as plasma, red cells, white cells, and platelets. Platelets help in the healing process by clotting blood. Platelets are made of proteins which help your injuries heal. PRP is a concentrated serum made up of the plasma and platelets found in your blood.
To prepare your PRP for treatment, we will draw a sample of your blood and then process it through a centrifuge in our onsite lab. The blood will be spun for a short period of time (a few minutes) to separate your platelets from the other compositions. The result is a concentrated formula of growth and healing factors – the PRP – that will significantly improve your skin. Once the PRP is ready, your treatment can begin.
PRP treatments consistently provide excellent outcomes for our patients and spa clients. PRP can greatly improve the quality and texture of the skin, treat fine lines and wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, as well as promote hair growth for men and women with pattern hair loss or alopecia.
Certain PRP treatments are performed in-office by Dr. Asfa, such as PRP for Alopecia and PRP for Dark Under-Eye Circles. Microneedling with PRP will be performed by our highly trained aestheticians in our med-spa (following a consultation with Dr. Asfa to ensure you are a candidate for the procedure).

A PRP facelift revitalizes your face without surgery. During this minimally-invasive, non-surgical treatment, Dr. Asfa injects platelet rich plasma (PRP) with hyaluronic acid filler to contour your face, reduce wrinkles and plump skin. The procedure is commonly known as a PRP facelift because the main ingredient being used during the treatment is your blood. You should see immediate results when comparing your skin before and after a PRP facelift.
PRP forAlopecia or Pattern Hair Loss, performed by Dr. Asfa; starting at $1950 per session; treatment times vary; package pricing available. Substantial evidence suggests that the use of autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) improves hair growth and thickness in patients with androgenic alopecia or pattern hair loss, as well as prevents further hair loss from occurring. This treatment can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth following hair transplant surgery. There are minimal side effects, such as pain or soreness at the injection sites, bruising, swelling and tenderness. These side effects typically last a few days.
PRP for Dark Under Eye Circles, performed by Dr. Asfa; starting at $1250 per session; treatment times vary. Three sessions spaced one month apart are recommended; package pricing available. Fillers may also be recommended for optimal results, pricing varies by product used. To minimize discomfort during this treatment, we offer the Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery System, described below.
PRP for dark circles offers a comprehensive approach to rejuvenating the under-eye area. Its ability to improve blood circulation, stimulate collagen and elastin production, and enhance skin tone and texture makes it an increasingly popular choice for those seeking a natural yet effective solution to under-eye concerns.
During the PRP injection process, patients may experience mild pain and discomfort. The sensitivity of this varies depending on the individual’s pain threshold. The under-eye area is particularly delicate, making the injections slightly more uncomfortable and more prone to swelling and bruising than in other areas. While these symptoms are typically temporary, lasting a few days to a week, they can be noticeable and may require some downtime.
PRP Facial (PRP with Microneedling) performed by a licensed aesthetician; $550 per session, package pricing available; treatment times vary. Three sessions spaced one month apart are highly recommended for optimal results. To minimize discomfort during your PRP facial, you will be given a prescription for topical numbing cream, which will be applied prior to your treatment. We also offer the Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery System, described below.
A PRP facial combines the benefits of microneedling and PRP to treat a variety of conditions on the face and body. The microneedling technique involves using multiple tiny needles that puncture the skin, creating thousands of micro-injuries in the skin. Your own PRP is used during a PRP facial instead of a medical-grade serum that is typically used during microneedling. This powerful combination stimulates the body's natural healing process, which results in collagen production and improved, rejuvenated skin. At Asfa Plastic Surgery and Ziba Medical & Day Spa, we use an advanced technology called the SkinStylus SteriLock® MicroSystem that has been approved by the FDA as a Class II medical device. It is very versatile and can be used safely for almost all patients to address conditions such as wrinkles, scarring, acne scars, alopecia, skin pigmentation, stretch marks, rosacea, and mild loose or sagging skin.
Because microneedling penetrates the skin, your initial consultation will be with Dr. Asfa so he can determine if you are a candidate for this procedure. Once you have been approved, your aesthetician will perform the treatments (a series of three treatments is recommended for optimal results).
After a PRP facial, your skin may look red, slightly swollen, and potentially itch, though pain should be minimal. The redness can persist for anywhere from 12 to 24 hours and your skin may peel for a few days.
Numbing Cream: We are happy to provide you with a prescription for topical numbing cream, which is custom blended by a compounding pharmacy. There is a nominal fee for this, paid by you to the pharmacy. We recommend using the pharmacy's complimentary delivery service to have your prescription delivered to us prior to your treatment, or you may pick it up from the pharmacy.
Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery System: you are empowered to safely control your pain relief during certain in-office aesthetic treatments and procedures, such as Morpheus8, IPL and other laser treatments, BodyTite, liposuction and more. The fixed mixture of 50% nitrous oxide and oxygen uses a specially designed, on-demand valve that delivers these medical gases only when you choose to inhale it through a handheld mouthpiece. There is no loss of consciousness, you manage when to use Pro-Nox and for how long, while still being clear-headed and able to respond on your own terms. This pain management alternative, known as analgesia, is non-addictive and can even decrease the need for other pain medications, such as pills.
